FINE LINE TATTOOS - CONTRAINDICATIONS
1. Absolute Contraindications
These are conditions where tattooing should not be performed under any circumstances:
Active skin infection at or near the tattoo site (e.g., impetigo, cellulitis, herpes simplex, fungal infection)
Known allergy to tattoo pigments, inks, or metals
Severe bleeding disorders (e.g., hemophilia)
Uncontrolled diabetes mellitus (poor wound healing, increased infection risk)
Immunocompromised states, including:HIV/AIDS with low CD4 countOrgan transplant recipients on immunosuppressants Cancer patients currently receiving chemotherapy, radiotherapy, or immunotherapy
Keloid tendency or hypertrophic scarring history
Severe cardiac conditions with infective endocarditis risk (especially without antibiotic prophylaxis)
Pregnancy or breastfeeding (due to potential ink toxicity and infection risk)
Use of anticoagulant or antiplatelet medications (unless cleared by a physician)
2. Relative Contraindications
Tattooing may be done with caution or medical clearance:
Controlled diabetes mellitus (if wound healing is adequate)
Autoimmune diseases (e.g., lupus, psoriasis — tattooing may trigger flare-ups)
Eczema, dermatitis, or psoriasis in the area to be tattooed
Recent surgery or radiation in the area within the last 6 months
History of fainting or syncope during procedures
Recent sunburn or broken skin
